Wine Tastings
Treat yourself and your friends or colleagues to a private wine tasting in your home or office. A tasting conducted by Susan Richards of Always Sharing Wine will allow you and your guests to learn more about wine grapes, regions, food, and wine pairing while having a fun and entertaining evening. A private tasting is a wonderful way to celebrate a holiday, birthday, upcoming wedding, or host a networking event.
Susan is happy to develop a wine tasting that will suit your event, interests, and budget. Here are just a few options.
Wine Tasting Themes
Wine 101
Host an informative and fun event on the basics of wine. Susan Richards will lead the group by tasting five wine styles: sparkling, red, white, rose, and fortified. Attendees will learn to evaluate a wine’s characteristics, including aroma, flavor, body, tannins, finish, and quality. The class will also cover how to pair wine and food.
Take A Trip Around The Globe
This tasting will allow you to learn about five of the world’s major wine regions while virtually traveling the Globe. Pick five countries you are interested in learning about, and Susan will discuss that country’s grape varieties, viticulture, and wine styles while you sip along.
The Science of Food and Wine Pairing
This class teaches why certain foods and wine naturally go well together, like pizza and Chianti Classico, oysters and Champagne, or steak and Cabernet Sauvignon. Using the six basic food flavors of sweet, acidic (sour), bitter, spicy (hot), umami, and salt, you will taste each flavor with different wines and experience how food affects the taste of a wine. It will become clear that what you eat with a wine can enhance or detract from its flavor. This class works well for a company outing or networking event. Food tasting stations with each food type encourage mingling and discussion as participants taste and compare the food and wine combinations.
All About The Bubbles
Enjoy a fun and informative sparkling wine tasting that will have you sipping Champagne, Cava, Crémant, and Prosecco while virtually traveling through the countries that produce them. Learn about the sparkling wine production methods, grapes, and styles of each wine. This lively and educational tasting will make you a bubble expert, and it is great for a holiday, bachelorette, or birthday party, and even just a fun “girls’ night” with bubbles.
Blind Wine Tasting for Beginners and Experts
Want to test how well you know your wine? Pick a theme such as a country, a grape variety, or a price point (can you tell the $15 wine from the $40?). Susan Richards will lead you through the structured process wine professionals use to taste wine blind, and the critical aspects of tasting, such as color, aroma, flavor, tannin, body, and finish, will be discussed. This tasting can be scheduled as a one-time event or a series of classes, each focusing on diverse types of wine.
